The Other Mother

sketch
Take one blood-stained t-shirt, a Sharpie, some acrylic paint, and a couple buttons...

with_button_eyes
and, voilĂ , The Other Mother as fashion (soon to be modeled).

It's not as scary as this Other Mother, but scary enough to freak my six-year-old. I admit, he wasn't scared of the shirt until I showed him the Coraline movie trailer. Whoops, bad parenting moment there. The two-year-old, on the other hand, asks repeatedly to watch the trailer. When I showed him the shirt, he said, "That you, mama?"

Mwah ha ha ha.

This reminds me of the other day when I decided it would be a good idea to watch Lemony Snicket with our toddlers. They're not quite ready for scary funny.

Very cool shirt!

In my day, when my 21year old was 2,it was the hag in The Sword in the Stone...looks like you will have to get a preteen kid somewhere to go to Coraline with you...

Awesome job! We're heading out to see this later today. I normally hate spending money at the movie theater when Netflix works perfectly well, but I really want to see it in 3D.

My six year old is OBSESSED With the trailer and is begging to see the movie...i just don't know if he is ready, but we are reading the book and he seems to love it so far. That said, if my kid was not fully acclimated to creepy buttons, i would say i have done a very bad job of mothering indeed :D

I think that boys would be able to handle it better than girls. That is how it would have been when I was younger. Has anyone read the book?

I love the shirt! I loved the book when I read it a few years ago, but I need to read it again. Of course, I'm a HUGE Neil Gaiman fan. Love his stuff.

I almost saw Coraline last Sunday, but it was sold out by the time I got there. I ended up seeing Pink Panther 2. Not quite the same, but I was there with my friend and her kids, so we had to see something.
Hopefully I'll get another chance to escape to the movies soon. I'm enjoying your Scary-Craft projects. Keep up the cool blog!!!

That's wonderful! I love the button eyes... My mother just told me (my 25 year old grown up self) to "please don't be weird" when I got excited about using the button-eye thing on Coraline's website. She'll be pleased to know I loved the movie and like the idea of the button eyes on things (although not on me!!)
