Straw Bale House

It's a lot easier to be video free video light in the Springtime — we're giving it another go. Winter was tough. As soon as the kids got sick I caved in and the videos trickled back downstairs until there were huge piles of them. Straw bales help — they might be my favorite kid toy of all time. Lots of creative play has been going on, around, on top, underneath, and inside of them. And, when stacked they are slightly dangerous, which makes them even better. We're thinking of getting some for a friend for his fifth birthday.

Wherever it is that you live.. I want to be there!! It looks so sunny and warm and beautiful! And flowers! Oh my god. I have a few straggly crocuses coming up but that's it so far. I shouldn't complain, it is nearly 70 today here in upstate NY, but we may get more snow this weekend. Ugh. Enjoy the sun...have fun with the hay bales.

I love the smell of straw! I live in the suburbs, so I'm going have to do some research and find a place where my kids can play with straw bales!

I really enjoy your blog!

Thanks,
Alexis

that is a WONDERFUL idea. Why have I never thought of it? Ford's first phrase was (I kid you not, and this was when we were living in Dallas):

"damned hay bales." He was, like, almost two. funniest memory ever.

So. Where'd you find the damned hay bales?

Straw bales are a perfect idea for my kids while their dad builds the tree house. It is so nice to have sun and some warmer weather in the bay area, I know our family is enjoying it up here.

When we go to the pumpkin patch the stacked straw bales are the best part for the kids. That and the cabin filled with hazelnuts that they can roll around in. But jumping from hay bales stacked high to a big thick bed of hay? HEAVEN for boys!!!!!

Looks like there's some great garden stuff going on.
