Made in 2007

Made in 2007
My second online year is coming to a close and I want to thank you all for the inspiration, feedback, and motivation. I really enjoy sharing the narrative of your lives. I love this crafty community! I can't wait to learn new things, see pictures of the next batch of babies, and witness the strengths of you all.

Many years ago, my very inspirational high school art teacher, Katie, had us imagine what a calendar year looked liked. Every one had such different ideas. What does *your* year look like? Can you make a representation of it? Or, is it too abstract? I'd love to hear/see what your year looks like, even if it doesn't make it onto paper, or some other medium. I'll share my idea in the comments after awhile, so I can leave you with a blank canvas.

Cheers!
Michelle

Your craft mosaic is so rainbow happy, I love it! Today I especially am drawn to the bookshelf project. I'm thinking about the question you asked about the calender year. When I think about the year ahead I just have vague ideas of what I would like to happen. It's kind of formless right now but certain things stand in the forefront: get my kid in preschool, self publish a pattern, learn to use a knitting machine etc etc. So I guess my year looks like a series of small goals to accomplish. Is this what you mean?

A calendar year looks like a spiral with January in the middle and December on the edge ... but when you pull back you see that 2007 shrinks to a dot in the middle of a new spiral, which is 2008.

Happy New Year!

I like futuregirl's spiral year.

I see it more like a rolodex, but the "pages" (leaves?) of it are covered in pop-ups. And it's in more than 3 dimensions.

Fun question! Happy New Year!

My calendar looks like the seasons, with big events planned for each season (in which an activity like "go camping" is a big event). I love the winter, until spring comes. Then I love spring....until summer comes...

Here's to another great year.

Happy New YEar!I'm a bundle of possibilities and questions to, like kat...what can be accomplished, what is accomplished that I don't realize right away..what haven't I imagined yet!

i love the spiral visual Alice has created in my brain...for me? i see the calendar in very specific seasons...each season that has it's own color, it's own holidays, it's own mood and it's own set of clothing...yes, we in the midwest actually have a seasonal "rotation" of our clothes. sweaters get packed away for the summer, shorts and such disappear for the winter months etc...

your mosaic is quite inspirational. so it IS possible to accomplish so much with TWO to look after?

Hi everyone. Happy New Year.

Gudrun: Can't wait to see what you design this year.

PKM: Eventually we *will* meet up at the store. You know how I *need* fabric. ;)

Meg: I stole it from KnitSonya, so we're even. ;)

FF: Good luck in the next year!

Kat: Bitter Betty also had a to-do list in her calendar. Only you know what yours really looks like.

Futuregirl: Your calendar reminds me of the Etsy favorites spiral. :)

gailv: cool 3D effect!

jessica: I checked out your blog and I loved the banner idea.

mandy: your calendar sounds fun. you sound fun. a glass half full kind of gal?

Mary Jane: Here's to possibilities.

Kristin: My calendar has almost no winter -- very California, as Bitter Betty said. Yes, somehow I managed to make things with the two small ones. My advice is to do as much as possible before the little one becomes a full fledged toddler. I can do less and less. This will be the year that tests my juggling capabilities.

Cheers to you all. --Michelle

Hi, I adore your blog. I just had to tell you that. :)
I love your crafty mosaic. I want to do that too...copy cat, I know, but what a great idea.
You've got me thinking...what does 2007 look like to me? What do I want to represent 2008? Creativity...that is what I want in 2008. I want to quit judging my aesthetic and my creations and just let it flow in 2008.
Well, I'm still kinda new to this whole bloggy community, and ya know, it rocks! Thank you for sharing all of your lovely photos and thoughts!
Cheers to a great new year!
