Original G-nome

papa gnome

I wondered when I'd have a go at needle felting. Lucky for me my friend, Sara, has a craft supply shop in her garage. ;) First, I made a loose shape of a beard out of felt, then sewed the roving onto it in areas where it won't show. Then I made a lining of felt and hand stitched it to cover up the fuzzy edges and to strengthen it. Of course, it has fuzzy edges anyway.

What do you call a group of gnomes? A herd? A pod? A posse?

What a great costume idea. Especially effective as a group.

Hmm, the first thing that popped into my head was "haggle." Do gnomes haggle? They seem like they would... But I like "forest" too.

And wow, they look fantastic!

Thanks for the gnome love.

Zoe: I didn't hear anything specific about reactions. Those who knew really enjoyed it, though. Check out the movie my sister made after she left our house.

I found out last night that everyone loves a gnome. I've never had so many people want to take pictures of my Halloween costume.

What very bountiful beards - that is very important in the world of gnomes. I tried making a wooly beard years ago for a wizard costume and I bow to you and your superior beard-making technique.

That's a great idea for a costume! You need a pic of you out in the garden with those on.

I think it might be a gnot of gnomes or maybe a garden of gnomes.teehee. I wish I could dress my family up in gnomish attire- they would at least be more entertaining that way!!!!
