I missed the date, but had wanted to post these funny knit critters for my birthday because they are the same vintage as I am. The patterns are from a supplemental pamphlet from Woman's Day magazine, April, 1968.

Check them out, there are more:

Pages 2-3
Pages 4-5
Pages 6-7
Page 8

Also, thanks so much for the birthday wishes for my boy. Seems like this year is going to be short on craft and long on kid chasing. I'll try to make up for it with photos of my crafts-of-yore and other tidbits. I'm still sewing clothes and wrote up a glue-set zipper tutorial for Sew, Mama, Sew, which I believe is going live tomorrow.

These stuffies look quite weird... in a charming way. I always hope for the same regarding myself... charming, I mean. But being the same vintage, I am afraid there isn't much charm left... oh my, we are turning 40 next year!
Thanks for sharing!

Happy Birthday to you!
I'm the lurker you met in the yarn shop a couple of weeks ago. It was fun to meet you and Bethany. Your boys are adorable. Have fun while they keep you on the run!

I'm a little older than you, and sometimes I think that my memories of the 60's are suspect because I was just a little kid. But they really did use words like wiggy and groovy in mainstream magazines! Thanks so much for the patterns, and happy belated birthday!

I remember all the running. Now I can't get my boy's butt off the chair in front of the computer. And he's only six.

That's a great tutorial.

I really like the Super Colors cat, and the how the era of black-and-white publishing didn't stop them!

So if you ever tire of this wonderful thing and wish to trade let me know - I have fabric and you know I don't sew. There is much more than a zipper standing in my way!

Thanks for the post of the Mod Menagerie! I saved the pictures from the April 1968 magazine but never sent for the instructions. I was searching the internet tonight when I found them! Great job!
Thanks, Dorothy
