I've been saving these stockings to share at a time when everyone is not overwhelmed by the holidays. Hopefully they will inspire a whole mess of embroidery projects. I've had close up details posted at Flickr for some time now. I made seven of these for my family Christmas 2004. Looking back now, I remember that they were the beginning of my new craft era, and part of the catalyst for our wacky idea to put on a craft show.

P.S. Have you all been to Getting Stitched on the Farm? I think I'm in love: the painted wall; the socks for Vogue Knitting; the animals. Sigh...

So wonderful! Your embroidery is amazing and the buttons are tiny treasures. I'm so glad I checked out the Flikr because the Mod one is my favorite. They are totally inspiring me to hone my stitching skillz.

Thanks for the link to Kristin Nicholas. Colorful Stitchery is a cool book. You are right, that wall is great! I love the Islamic tile vibe.

Oh my goodness. My momma crafts Christmas stockings for each of the kids and significant others. She re-does stockings as interests and hobbies change. Needless to say, out stocking display always draws commetns. Yours are great - thanks for sharing :)

I'm so glad you all enjoyed the stockings. They were the beginning of this explosion of crafty I've been up to for almost two years. They're also the reason I have that huge craft stash. I remember feeling like I was using up all my good buttons on this project, so I had to remedy the situation. Many flea markets and garage sales later I have a bit of a hoarding problem. Do they have counseling for craft supply horders? :) I'm sorry if the early holiday thing offended anyone. I just have to get started now on the handmade things or I'll run out of time. I don't want to stay up till three the night before Christmas this year. Good luck everyone, and thanks again. M
