An old linen bed sheet.

See the tiny, tiny seam where the two halves meet. The date looks to be 1815, perhaps the third month? I think the name is Jane Ewing — the last name is hard to determine.
From a friend of my father. It belonged to his mother who died in the 70s. It had been sitting in a house with black mold all over the walls and ceiling since her death. A treasure waiting to be found.

Wow! Is it very soft? It looks in good condition, what a treasure!
I like how they used to date sheets, so they knew which where the oldest when it came time to make them into bandages and recycle them.
what a fantastic thing.
That is amazing - a real testament to the strength of linen.
wowie michelle, that is a great treasure.
That IS a treasure! I'm so glad it's with someone who values it!
Beautiful. I love linen.
I love knitwork. DO you have any good sites that suggest knitting tools.
Gorgeous. Really, that's all that needs to be said.
The sheet is beautiful. I'm guessing it is handwoven. The last name looks like it is Martan or some such thing. What a great treasure to have.
Susan
Very cool. Old things hold so much spirit and soul. The last name kind of looks like Horton from here.
I have a similar dated antique bed linen. Did this originate in England, the USA or wherever? Any value to these other than their beauty?
